How do you like your eggs?

I'll take mine poached.

My sweet husband made the most wonderful breakfast on Saturday morning.

On the Menu:
Biscuits with Poached Eggs and Bacon

The eggs were perfectly poached, thanks to W's new single egg poachers from Williams Sonoma. If you've ever attempted to poach an egg, you've probably discovered that it's pretty difficult. These egg poachers are awesome!

The finished product was Ah-Mazing!

Surely you've got eggs in the fridge. Make some coffee, fire up the stove and poach some eggs! For breakfast or dinner, whatever suits you. Let me know how it goes.

Here is the best "How To" I've seen.

Birthday Nosh

One thing I'll miss most about Dallas is the FOOD! If we had all the money in the world Weston and I would definitely spend the vast majority of it enjoying yummy food.

My foodie friend Brooke had been raving and ranting about a fantastic place called
Nosh. So when Weston's birthday came around we decided to give it a try. Per Brooke's recommendation, we requested a seat at the Chef's counter and ended up having one of the best meals and most fun dining experiences ever.

Being at the chef's bar was like being inside an episode of a Food Network show. We watched them prepare gourmet food, got to know the people next to us, and even snacked on some free munchies- courtesy of the chef. Our food was amazing!

Here's what we had:

A look into the kitchen from the chef's bar

Appetizer: Kobe Beef Meatballs on a crostini

My food: Braised Veal Cheeks with Black Truffle Grits and Brussel Sprouts

Weston's food: Crispy Duck Confit with Leek and Cauliflower Mash

Banana's Foster Cake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

We also had a Lobster Bisque Soup and Lobster Fritters (not pictured). Everything we tasted was amazing! We were able to watch them prepare most everything on the menu and it all looked fantastic. I was especially intrigued by the mac and cheese and the foie gras and chicken liver paté.

My Recommendations:
Make a reservation
Sit at the chefs counter at least once
Check out the chalkboard (that's where they write their daily specials)
Ask your waiter for recommendations
Have fun!

It really was a great experience! Go check it out and let me know what you think!

Picture Frame Collage

I LOVE the idea of a well done picture frame collage. I can't wait to give it a try at the new place!

Some inspiration...

Okay I think I just like this one because there's a Boston in the picture!

This one is my favorite! I'll probably try to recreate this as best I can. First stop- hit Etsy and order some cool prints.

4 Whole Months

My sweet baby girl is 4 months old today!

It's so funny to think about how much has changed in Aubrey's life in the past 4 months. She went from living in my tummy to experiencing life on the outside. She has learned how to use her hands, suck on her fingers, wiggle her toes, and make all kinds of noises. She has discovered herself in the mirror and is fascinated by her little chubby baby legs. She smiles and coos and will even let out a giggle every now and then. She simply has the most pleasant disposition... especially in the morning (she gets that from her Dad). My love for her grows and grows every day. I know she won't stay like this for long, so I'm soaking in every minute. Happy 4 month birthday Aubrey! We love you!

Here's a look back...

What's in a name?

Get a job. Check!
Get married. Check!
Have a baby. Check!
Buy a home. Check!
Start a blog....

Apparently when you complete all of the above you are supposed to start a blog. Or at least that's what it seems like. So here I go!

My intention is not to treat this blog like a diary. Nor is it to simply rip off some of my favorite blogs about design or style. I want to write about things I love-- food, family adventures, motherhood, good music, God, my new home, and anything else that seems interesting enough to share with the world.

Choosing a name for the blog was the hardest part! I wanted to choose a name that reflected something about me, my home, or the things I love. I wanted to use my last name- BROWN. I quickly realized that BROWN is a very unappealing word. One idea that came to mind was "The Daily Brown" (a tribute to Martha Stewart's puppy blog about her two frenchies)... but that just didn't have a nice ring to it if you know what I'm saying. Almost every title I came up with that referenced BROWN had some sort of potty connotation. The ideas were thoroughly entertaining, though. My favorite was "The Brown Movement."

So I settled on a name that means something to me.

"A Fairway Home Companion"

It's a salute to one of my favorite NPR shows, A Prairie Home Companion.

Weston and I headed to A Prairie Home Companion at the Winspear last August

It speaks to the new home we're buying in Shreveport, LA. Our new home sits right on the golf course. Right on the FAIRWAY, to be exact.

This is a home where we will: watch Aubrey grow into a little girl, cook gourmet meals, invite family over for the Holidays, decorate, experience community with other Christ followers, recover from life's many hurts, and soak in God's blessings. This is where Aubrey will crawl for the first time, take her first steps, and speak her first words. It's the place where Weston and I will continue to grow closer to each other. It's the empty canvas for all of my creative and decorative whims. It's where I will learn how to potty train a little one and operate lawn equipment. It will be HOME.

So.... enjoy!

Our new home! Shreveport, LA
